Client Work | Exhibition Title & Poster Design
Overview
I designed the title art and main poster for Henry VanderSpek's photography exhibition, 'Redacted City'. The final artwork was printed and prominently displayed on the exhibition's main title wall. LINK
Design Brief
Concept & Process Henry’s vision was a collage-style design utilizing the actual photos from the show. To achieve a gritty, cut-and-paste aesthetic for the typography, I pulled individual letters from across his artworks and manually arranged them to form the title.
For the main poster, I anchored the layout with one hero photograph and seamlessly layered other exhibition pieces inside the storefront window. I then painted over the original shop sign—literally "redacting" it to match the theme. The densely packed shop window is intentional; it represents the sheer volume of creativity and stories the artist holds. I wanted the piece to feel intensely concentrated, as if all that inspiration is just waiting to spill out.
